Snowboarding Adventure!

For Christmas, one of my presents was snowboarding lessons.  So yesterday I had my first snowboarding lesson with my Dad and Hunter, while Christian took skiing lessons.  So the very first thing we did was when our teachers said  "Alright, I want you guys to go down this hill so that we can see about where you guys are with snowboarding."  I was like, "I have never been on a snowboard in my life!" So Hunter and I are like okaaaay, here we goooo!!  I had no idea how to brake and how to turn or anything.  I started going down and I kept speeding up faster and faster until I was going so fast I was terrified for my life!  So I went into "surfer style"where I slowly started to squat and put my hands on the ground, and next thing I know I was flying in mid air and then... I hit the ground.  I thought, "Wow that'll leave a bruise…" So my teachers finally taught us how to brake and turn and to slowly slow down.
After our lessons were over, we were allowed to have the rest of the day to snowboard.  I kept practicing down that same hill.  I started to feel pretty confident, and I was having a lot of fun!  Then Christian says, "Okay guys, I saw this other hill- it's just a little bit bigger than this one.  Let's go try it out!"  So we went up on the lift and we chose the easiest route on the harder hill since we were beginners. We started going down and there were lots of people zooming by us, and there were big hills with cliffs off the side, right next to us!  I was so scared that I started out scooting down on my bum.  I finally got the courage to stand up and started going faster, and faster.  There was not enough room for me to turn and slow down because first I was worried that someone would end up running into me because they were darting down the hill so fast.  Second, I was scared that I would fall off the side.  The only way I could get down was to simply ride down normally or it would take all day since the hill was so tall, so I had to keep trying to get up.  I fell so many times!  I was so fed up with falling and why the heck we were on this hill as well as being mad at Christian, and wondering why the "Black Diamond" leveled people on the easy route?  I mean, what the heck?!  I hurt so bad, and had tons of bruises, and I was FREAKING out, (I'm pretty sure when I was mumbling threatening words, I swore…) Anyways, we finally made it down...ALIVE, and we were able to go down the easy hill a couple more times.  My legs were SO tired I kept having to fall down because they were too weak to stay up.  he he he.
So now it's Sunday and I am so sore that I can't even turn my head around.  But that's alright, because being sore means I worked hard, and thats the best part!  I am SO happy and thankful I got snowboarding lessons!  I will just make sure I don't do that unexpected route again, until I get better at least.

  2. Oh man, that reminds me of when I started snowboarding when I was in Junior High too. My parents got me a ski pass to Canyons resort and on Saturdays me and my friend Nicole would get dropped off up there for the day. She was a lot better than me, but eventually I got the hold of it. Me and you should go up with your family. I haven't been in a few years to a resort so I may be a bit rusty, but I'd love to you with you!!! Looks like fun! Hope your muscles feel better soon! Great job! It only gets easier from here. Promise!
